Welcome to The Arts Society
Plymouth & South Devon
Founded in 1977 the Arts Society Plymouth & South Devon aims to bring together people of all ages through a shared curiosity for the arts and heritage from around the world. Our monthly lectures are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from March to October.
Our society will be of interest to anyone who loves or wants to discover more about 'The Arts' - paintings, pottery, silverware, sculpture and a myriad of other subjects which come under this broad heading. The only way to really understand the richness of the material covered is to look at our Lecture Programme (both for this and previous years) or come along as a guest and try us out.
We are one of over 300 member societies with a national membership of over 60,000 of the leading global arts education charity The Arts Society. https://theartssociety.org We have access to over 300 professional lecturers, some of whom are the country's top experts in their field and who cover a wide range of subjects covering many aspects of the arts. Our monthly lectures provide welcoming places to hear expert lecturers share their specialist knowledge.
In addition to our lecture programme we hold two popular Special Interest Days each year in autumn and spring at which we explore a particular topic in more depth. We also aim to provide day visits and either UK or European guided tours.
To watch the promotional video produced by The Arts Society which will give you a feel of what we are about please go to Youtube and search The Arts Society.
And to get a feel for the quality of the lecturers, listen to a selection of short talks from The Arts Society - YouTube channel.
We aim to provide the opportunity for children and young people to become involved in creative art activity through arts and heritage volunteering.
